The annual international meeting of Fondazione Centesimus Annus - Pro Pontifice
(FCAPP) and papal audience were held on May 30 and 31 in Rome.  U. S.  
members
from CAPP chapters in the Diocese of Bridgeport, the Archdioceses
of  Washington, Newark and Milwaukee participated.

The conference on Friday, May 30, had as its topic, "Social Capital and Human
Development," and included a distinguished array of speakers from North America
and Europe.  On Saturday, May 31, the attendees participated in a concelebrated
Mass in the Lourdes Grotto located in the Vatican Gardens.  The principal
celebrant was Cardinal Attilio Nicora, the president of the Administration of the
Patrimony of the Holy See (APSA).  Following mass, there was an audience with
His Holiness, Benedict XVI, at which the president of FCAPP and representatives
from CAPP in Germany, Spain, and the United States made brief reports to the Pope. 

The U.S.report was given by Jim Rice, a member of the U.S. Board
of CAPP.  Pope Benedict offered his annual message to FCAPP
worldwide.
